Aluminium Series and Information

The are 8 classes of aluminium ranging from a 1000 to 7000 series and cast. Each series have there pros and cons, and are formulated to a range of applications. To the right is a range of information to assist you in selecting the most appropriate series of aluminium for your application, correct filler rod for welding and some general information.

An advantage of using the correct filler rod when anodising a part is the more consistent colour after anodising. If the filler rod does not match the same series of aluminium that you are welding, it may become discoloured or have black lines adjacent to the weld. Below are some examples of correct and incorrect selection.
